Shown on the Right are two videos demonstrating the Paraloop technique. The beauty of the paraloop is the position of the fly in the surface film. Traditionally hackled flies sit high off the water…not a particular accurate position for a mayfly. Flies tied using a paraloop sit low in water. The hackle stacked on top of the hook is still remarkably visible to the angler.
Note that it is helpful but not absolutely necessary to have a gallows tool or something above the vice to act as a third hand to hold the loop or strand of material.
Both of these videos use a single strand. It is also possible to make a loop..which will allow the tier to hold the loop in one finger while winding the hackle.
